It’s Time to support our Football Ferns

That’s right New Zealand – it’s time to get behind our amazing female athletes and teams! In just two short weeks, Aotearoa will host the largest women’s sporting event on the planet – and as co-hosts of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM – we’ve got front row seats to the action.

Research shows that there’s a gap in support for our female elite athletes when compared to male athletes. A gap in knowledge, how much we read, watch, attend and generally support our women on the world stage.

So, Sport NZ has launched the “It’s Time” campaign, which takes you behind the scenes, and around the world – showing our epic football wāhine inaction, and the success they are garnered offshore.

From London to Finland, Glasgow to Melbourne, LA to Leicester and beyond – our Football Ferns play for some of the most iconic clubs in the world. Fans and communities worldwide turn out in thousands to watch them play. And now they’re home to play on football’s biggest stage and make their mark on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM.

“It’sTime” features eight incredible footballers - Ali Riley, CJ Bott, Claudia Bunge, Jacqui Hand, Michaela Foster, Olivia Chance, Ria Percival and Victoria Esson.

Let’s celebrate these wāhine toa and all they’ve achieved to get to this epic moment, by showing them aroha on home soil.
