All the free things you can enjoy during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™

Free Transport

Ticket holders to FIFA Women’s World Cup matches can get free public transport in each host city on game days.

-         In Auckland, score free transport on all trains to Kingsland station, all special bus services and scheduled bus services from two hours before kick-off

-         In Hamilton, ride for free on public bus transport

-         In Wellington, get free Metlink public transport to and from Wellington Stadium

-         In Dunedin, jump on the free, FIFA-branded double-decker bus going in a loop between the Octagon to the stadium for two hours before each game. It will even bring you back afterwards! And local Dunedin buses will befree for ticket holders two hours before and one hour after the matches.

Please note, you will be asked to show proof of purchase of a match ticket taking place on the same day as you are travelling

Free Entry to Fan Festivals

If you’re not heading to a game, there’s no better place to soak up the action than at the FREE Fan Festivals in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin. Each Fan Festival is offering the best in football, music, entertainment, local culture and games – and you’ll be able to watch matches being played in other host cities live on the big screen.

There’s also lots of free, family-friendly activities and special things for kids to do–from face-painting, poi workshops and virtual experiences to silent discos, football raves and futsal, Hungerball and Zorb Football fun.

Outside of the Fan Festivals there’s lots of other free things for the family to do – in Auckland there’s the Elemental Festival, in Wellington, buildings will be lit up around the waterfront, in Dunedin there is a giant mural in the Octagon and a special Topp Twins event,  and in Hamilton, check out the ‘Girls with Goals’ project, celebrating amazing local wāhine.

Fancy a free concert?

Throughout the tournament, there will be live music and entertainment at the Fan Festivals, featuring a diverse line-up of bands, artists, DJs, comedians, speakers, and performances. Who knew you could see the likes of Bic Runga, Robinson, Ladyhawke, Maisey Rika, Cassie Henderson, Ladi6, Hollie Smith, JessB, Troy Kingi,  and more, for free?! Check your city’s Fan Festival schedule for who you can catch on your local stage.

Why not head along to EQUALIZE, a free-entry equity discussion series that celebrates women in sport, business, culture, and society. Equalize is popping up in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin, and features the most amazing line up of speakers. Hear from Michelle A’Court, Dame Valerie Adams, Bic Runga, Arizona Leger, Chelsea Winstanley speaking alongside international speakers such as US Women’s National Team Players Association’s Becca Roux, US Olympian and broadcaster Julie Foudy, Angel City President Julie Ehrman and many more!

Mr G & the Tūmanako art project

Internationally renowned artist Mr G(Graham Hoete) is embarking on Tūmanako 2.0 – a project to celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ that will see six large-scale murals being created in the four host cities, with the help of young female artists from small town communities around the country. The murals celebrate past, current and future generations of wāhine Māori and indigenous athletes and show aroha and support for them as they represent Aotearoa at the biggest women’s sporting event in the world.

You can watch Mr G and his fellow artists paint live in Wellington on July 25^th at Shed 6, and in Dunedin on July 30^th opposite the Forsyth Barr Stadium at the Otago University.
