Mr G & the Tūmanako art project

Internationally renowned artist Mr G(Graham Hoete) is embarking on Tūmanako 2.0 – a project to celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ that will see six large-scale murals being created in the four host cities, with the help of young female artists from small town communities around the country. The murals celebrate past, current and future generations of wāhine Māori and indigenous athletes and show aroha and support for them as they represent Aotearoa at the biggest women’s sporting event in the world.

You can watch Mr G and his fellow artists paint live in Wellington on July 25th at Shed 6, and in Dunedin on July 30th opposite the Forsyth Barr Stadium at the Otago University.

Explore the host cities

Whether you’re near Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Dunedin – we thoroughly recommend a wander around the CBD or near the Fan Festivals and Stadium, as it’s a hive of excitement! From murals to colourful archways, to flags and photo exhibitions – there’s so much to see if you explore on foot.
